Day 1
day 1 AUCKLAND ARRIVAL
On arrival at Auckland Airport, transfer to your hotel. Later in the evening, head to the Waitemata Harbor for a 2.5-hour sailing dinner cruise. This unique and romantic experience not only familiarizes you with the city’s sights but also its culture and cuisine. On the way back enjoy the city skyline dotted with illuminated buildings. Return to your hotel for overnight stay.
Day 2
day 2 AUCKLAND HALF-DAY SIGHTSEEING
Breakfast at hotel, followed by a 3.5- to 4-hour crisp city tour. Start off with a visit to the Waterfront area, followed by exploring the Viaduct Basin, Wynyard Quarter, and Westhaven Marina from where you can possibly spot bungee jumpers leaping off the Harbor Bridge – where you head next. After marveling at the Harbor Bridge, head to the Victorian suburb of Northcote Point for a panoramic view of the city. Continue on to the hip suburb of Ponsonby with its charming cafes, boutiques, & other eclectic stores.
You will get another opportunity to catch dramatic views of the city when you travel along the infamous K Road (Karangahape Road) and up to Mount Eden Volcano. Round-off with a visit to the Eastern beaches of Mission Bay and St Heliers, before stopping at Achilles Point for a wonderful view over the Hauraki Gulf. Later, return to your hotel for overnight stay.
Day 3
day 3 AUCKLAND – WAITOMO CAVES – ROTORUA (BY ROAD)
Breakfast at hotel, before heading to Rotorua by road. Enroute the highlight is a visit to the Waitomo Glow Worm Caves. Drift silently in a boat on an underground river under the milky way of millions of glow worms on the cavern roof above you. Continue onto Rotorua and on arrival check-in at your hotel. This evening, enjoy a night of authentic cuisine and culture. Feast on a selection of foods cooked the traditional Maori way on hot stones in an authentic earthen oven. Overnight at your hotel in Rotorua.
Day 4
day 4 ROTORUA SIGHTSEEING
Today’s tour includes Te Puia and its Thermal Valley of roaring geysers (including the famous Lady Knox), steaming rivers, and boiling mud pools. Following this, you will travel to Rainbow Springs to view trout and other wildlife. Return to your hotel for overnight stay.
Day 5
day 5 ROTORUA TO WELLINGTON BY FLIGHT
Breakfast at hotel. Depending upon flight time, transfer to the airport for your flight to Wellington - New Zealand’s capital city. Later in the evening, head for a charming cable car ride on a line built 100 years ago. Take a mesmerizing cable car ride from the heart of Wellington to Kelburn – a popular lookout point. Conveniently arrive near other beautiful Wellington attractions, including eateries. Later, return to your hotel for overnight stay.
Day 6
day 6 WELLINGTON SIGHTSEEING
Breakfast at hotel, followed by a tour of Wellington city that includes its coastline. Marvel at the 360-degree views of Wellington from the Mount Victoria Lookout, including the rugged coast & the sea. Pass through quaint villages and admire the Beehive - the common name for the New Zealand Parliament Buildings. Visit the church of Old St Paul's and stroll through the Botanic Gardens. Later, return to your hotel for overnight stay.
Day 7
day 7 WELLINGTON TO PICTON BY FERRY. PICTON TO CHRISTCHURCH BY TRAIN
Breakfast at hotel, before boarding the Inter-islander ferry across the Cook Strait to Picton. At Picton, transfer to the railway station to take the Coastal Pacific train to Christchurch. On arrival in Christchurch, transfer to your hotel, for overnight stay.
Day 8
day 8 CHRISTCHURCH
Breakfast at hotel. Known as the Garden City, Christchurch is the largest city in the South Island and is home to English heritage and architecture. Explore the willow and oak tree-lined river Avon as well as the boutique cafes. Overnight at your hotel in Christchurch.
Day 9
day 9 CHRISTCHURCH TRAM TOUR
Breakfast at hotel, followed by a vintage hop-on and hop-off tram tour. Witness the architecture and the rebuilt city centre after the destructive earthquakes of 2010 and 2011. Points of interest enroute are Cathedral Square, waterfront bordering river Avon, Canterbury Museum, Botanic Garden and Arts Center. Don’t miss the city’s largest urban space at Hagley Park, or the boutique stores of New Regent Street – considered as New Zealand’s “Most Beautiful Street”. Return to your hotel for overnight stay.
